Palazzo Vecchio is strongly linked to the territory and tradition. The soil is made of tuff clay and silt, the latter being the mineral thread between the products.

Harvest period

September / October manual harvest to select our best bunches.

Processing in the vineyard

In January dry pruning and in May green pruning, topping in June / July. Thinning of the bunches is carried out in mid-July if the vine production is too high to improve the quality of the grapes.

How we treat the soil

Earthmoving operations in alternating rows, depending on the climate: in arid seasons, a maximum of 7/8 operations where work is also carried out on the grassy row with a one-tooth ripper only to close any cracks in the soil; rainy season maximum 3/4 processing during the year.
The vines are worked with natural techniques that allow us to maintain the right balance between the vineyard itself and the environment that surrounds it.

Planting layout of the vines

distance between vineyard row 2.5 m, distance between vines 90cm, for a height of 70 cm in new vineyards with a planting density of 5000 vines per hectare,
in older vineyards such as Vigna del Bosco one goes by 3 m, and vines 1.2 m, for a height of one meter with a planting density of 3500/4000 vines per hectare.

Slope

We have an inclination that varies from 2% to 5%

Fertilizing

We use organic pelleted fertilizers in all vineyards; green manure with sowing of favinium in November and cutting in May especially in the younger vineyards.

What are we changing?

In recent years we have renewed the technology in the cellar, we have taken new traditional large cask and we have further improved the work in the vineyard.
Each of our wines is produced on different altimetries and displays to enhance their qualities.
